Memorandum of Understanding

Research Institute

Children’s National Hospital leadership is proud to announce the signing of a first of its kind Memorandum of Understanding with Emirates Health Services (EHS). Both distinguished organizations aim to collaborate in the areas of Quality Infrastructure, Specialty Advisory & Capacity Building, a Visiting Physicians' Program and Research & Innovation. This collaboration shall provide the opportunity for medical professionals from both ends to further enhance their medical skills and remain up-to-date with the latest developments in smart health care services.

“This agreement builds upon a decades-long relationship between Children’s National and the UAE,” said Soraia Angiuoli, executive director of global patient services at Children’s National. “We have served Emirati children — who frequently visit Washington, D.C., for specialized care — since 1985, treating thousands of Emirati patients over more than three decades — for everything from cardiac conditions to cancer.”

The United Arab Emirates generously funded the creation of the Sheikh Zayed Institute for Pediatric Surgical Innovation at Children’s National. The Institute has established Children’s National as a leader in innovation and helps make surgery for children more precise, less invasive and pain-free. A gift from the UAE also supports our research to help drive pediatric discoveries that save and improve the lives of children around the world.

Children’s National Hospital, based in Washington, D.C., is recognized for its expertise and innovation in pediatric care, research and commitment to the community and the world. Today, it is among the top 10 children’s hospitals in the United States and is ranked No. 1 for newborn care for the fifth straight year and ranked in all specialties evaluated by U.S. News & World Report. Children’s National is recognized for its expertise and innovation in pediatric care and as a strong voice for children through advocacy at the local, regional and national levels.
